Bloom Skip Bins / Customer terms

Skip bin terms of hire

The terms for hiring a skip bin from Bloom Skip Bins in Melbourne's west and north, written in plain English so the important parts are easy to find before you book.

Before you agree

Hiring a skip bin is straightforward. You tell us what you are working on, where the bin needs to go and how long you expect to need it. We include the agreed hire period in your quote and arrange the delivery and collection.

These terms explain the main responsibilities on both sides. They should be read together with the details in your individual booking and quote.

What these terms cover

In simple terms: These terms set out the basic conditions for hiring and using a Bloom Skip Bins skip bin.

These Terms of Hire apply to skip bin hire services provided by Bloom Skip Bins, ABN 80 656 357 354.

Your booking, quote and any information we give you about the particular hire also form part of the arrangements for your bin.

Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.

If you are unsure about any part of these terms, please contact us before proceeding with your booking.

Booking a skip bin

In simple terms: Give us accurate information so we can arrange the right bin, delivery and collection.

When requesting a booking, you should provide accurate information about the property, delivery location, type of waste, preferred delivery arrangements and how long you need the bin.

Your hire period is agreed as part of your booking and included in your quote.

If your requirements change after booking, contact us as soon as possible so we can confirm what can be changed.

Tell us the important details

Give us the correct address, placement information and relevant details about the job.

Keep us informed

Let us know promptly if your circumstances or requirements change.

Where the bin can be placed

In simple terms: Private property can be used where suitable. Council property requires the relevant permit.

A bin may be placed on suitable private property, such as a driveway, subject to access and placement requirements.

If the bin is to be placed on council property, including a nature strip or road, a council permit is required.

We arrange that permit for you. See Council permits below for how it works and how the cost is charged.

Hire period and collection

In simple terms: Tell us how long you need the bin. Longer hire can be requested, and early collection is available.

Tell us how long you need the bin when you book. The agreed hire period is included in your quote.

If you need to keep the bin for longer, ask us about extending the hire. Longer hire is available on request.

If you finish earlier than expected, call us and we can collect the bin early.

Collection arrangements should allow reasonable access to the bin at the agreed time.

What you can put in the bin

In simple terms: Only put permitted materials in the bin. Some materials are excluded from landfill.

You are responsible for putting only suitable materials into the skip bin you have hired.

Since 2019 it has been illegal to send e-waste to landfill in Victoria. E-waste is anything with a plug, battery or power cord, including televisions, computers, phones, kitchen appliances and whitegoods, so it can't go in a skip bin.

Mattresses can go in a Bloom skip bin at no extra charge.

For the detailed list of materials, see What Can Go in a Skip Bin.

Paint can be taken to Paintback, and household chemicals to Detox Your Home.

Council permits

In simple terms: You need a permit when the bin is placed on council property. Bloom arranges it as part of the booking.

A council permit is required when a skip bin is placed on council property, such as a nature strip or road.

Bloom Skip Bins arranges the permit as part of your booking and is accredited with every council in its service area.

Permit costs vary according to the council, placement and permit length. The applicable cost is added to the final invoice.

A permit is not needed when the bin goes on your own property, such as a driveway. You remain responsible for giving us accurate information about where the bin will go.

Your responsibilities

In simple terms: Provide accurate information, use the bin correctly and make sure the agreed placement remains accessible.

During the hire, you are responsible for:

providing accurate booking and placement information;
using the bin only for permitted materials;
keeping the agreed delivery and collection location accessible;
telling Bloom Skip Bins about changes that may affect the booking; and
following any applicable council requirements for the placement.

Changing or cancelling a booking

In simple terms: Contact Bloom Skip Bins as soon as possible if your plans change.

If you need to change your booking, contact Bloom Skip Bins as soon as possible. We can then confirm whether the requested change can be accommodated.

Quotes, invoices and payment

In simple terms: Your quote is the price. The only addition is a council permit, if your bin needs one.

Your quote gives the full price upfront for the bin size, suburb and hire period you asked for, covering delivery, pickup and disposal, with no hidden fees. If your bin needs a council permit, the permit cost is added to the final invoice.

Please check your quote.

The individual quote and booking details should be checked before the hire begins, particularly the delivery location, hire period and any applicable permit arrangements.

Before the bin arrives

A short checklist for a smoother delivery and collection.

Confirm the address. Make sure the delivery location in your booking is correct.
Confirm the placement. Tell us where the bin will go and whether it is council property.
Check your waste. Make sure the materials you plan to dispose of are permitted.
Tell us the hire period. However long you need it, that period is included in your quote.
Keep access clear. The delivery and collection location needs to remain accessible.
