What we need from you, and what to do if your plans change. Ready to book? Call 0411 131 044 or get a quote online.

§I.01

What details do you need to book a skip bin?

Short answer. Your address, where the bin should sit, what you're throwing out, and how long you need it.

Accurate details let us send the right bin and arrange delivery and collection properly. Tell us about the property and delivery spot, the type of waste, any delivery preferences, and the hire period.

Not sure which size? Describe the job and we'll match the bin, or compare all six on the skip bin sizes page.

§I.02

Can I change or cancel my skip bin booking?

Short answer. Yes. Contact us as soon as your plans change and we'll confirm what can be changed.

Call 0411 131 044, Monday to Saturday, 7am to 5pm. The sooner you let us know, the easier it is to move a delivery, change the bin or adjust the hire.

The full conditions are in our terms of hire.

Permits & placement — Licentia·locus

03 specimens

If the bin sits on your own property, no permit is needed, and that covers most jobs. These sheets cover the rest.

§II.01

Do I need a council permit for a skip bin?

Short answer. Only if the bin sits on council property, such as the nature strip or the road. We arrange it as part of your booking.

On your own property, such as a driveway or front yard, there's nothing to arrange. On council land, a permit is needed first.

Bloom is accredited with every council in our service area, so we lodge the permit for you. Just tell us where the bin needs to sit when you book.

Cross-ref §II.02 · Permit cost Link /skip-bin-hire/
§II.02

How much does a council permit cost?

Short answer. It varies by council, by where the bin goes and by how long the permit runs. The cost is added to your final invoice.

The permit fee is set by the council, not by Bloom. When you book, tell us where the bin will sit and we'll tell you whether a permit is needed.

If it is, the permit is the only addition to your quoted price.

§II.03

Where can a skip bin be placed?

Short answer. On your property, like a driveway or front yard, with nothing to arrange. On the nature strip or road, with a council permit.

Tell us about anything that could get in the way when you book: gates, carports, trees or overhead wires. Then we can check the drop before the truck arrives.

Each suburb page names its council and how permits work there. Find yours on service areas.

Most of what you want to clear will go in. A handful of items can't, for safety and legal reasons. Item-by-item answers are on what can go in a skip bin.

§III.01

What can go in a skip bin?

Short answer. Most household, garden, renovation and commercial waste: furniture, mattresses, cardboard, green waste, bricks, concrete, tiles and timber.

Mattresses go in at no extra charge. Heavy waste like soil, bricks or concrete fills a bin fast, so call 0411 131 044 first and we'll send the right bin.

§III.02

What can't go in a skip bin?

Short answer. Asbestos, chemicals, paint, liquids, gas bottles, batteries, electronics, food waste and medical waste.

E-waste is anything with a plug, battery or power cord, including TVs, computers, phones, kitchen appliances and whitegoods. It has been illegal to send it to landfill in Victoria since 2019.

Paint can go to Paintback, and household chemicals to Detox Your Home.

§III.03

Where does the waste go after collection?

Short answer. To licensed recycling and disposal facilities.

You fill the bin and we collect it. There's nothing for you to sort or take to the tip.

Clearing a garden? A green waste skip bin keeps garden waste separate.
